Our users keep coming up with new ways and reasons to use TEAM Student Tracker in their schools. Today I would like to share with you an idea coming from Rafael Montelongo, Principal of Bethany Elementary School in Beaverton, Oregon.
Do you find that some students go to the school nurse (or other health professional) often enough that they might be going there just to leave class? This could be valuable information to share with other team members and with parents. Rafael says, “… we are trying out a new application for [TEAM Student Tracker]. We have a great deal of kids that come in for “breaks” rather than legit Health Room visits, so we thought this would be an efficient way to let parents know. “
The school nurse is an important part of the educator team. Without divulging confidential medical information, TEAM Student Tracker could be used for multi-way communication between the nurse and the teachers, parents, and administration. Some issues that could be shared include: complaints of stomach aches, nutritional issues, fatigue, etc. It is very simple for the school to include this person as a user of the app and to customize the app to track new observations and interventions to fulfill this need.
What do you think of this idea? Do you face similar situations in your school? Let us know. And let us know if you think you have new uses for TEAM Student Tracker that others may not have thought of but might find useful (info@edtechjsbf.com or on Facebook). After all, we are all in this together.
